Sam Keenan

Inspired by Marc Bolan, Sam Keenan first picked up the guitar at the age of 15 and has been playing in bands ever since, including several originals outfits such as Tokyo Rock Machine, Wild Honey and Killion. Sam has a wide taste in music from The Beatles and Eagles to Sylosis and The Darkness. He can emulate the guitar style of many different players including Neil Young and Eddie Van Halen, which suits Redriffe just perfectly.

He nominates Iain Banks’s “The Crow Road” as his favourite novel. The book’s subjects are death, sex, unrequited love, sibling rivalry, a missing uncle, relationships, cars, drink (and other intoxicants) and God, which means it blends very nicely with his favourite album, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”. What with his love of The Darkness and his favourite film being “Alien”, the occult seems to feature quite a bit in Sam’s imagination.

Sam is the newest member of Redriffe. When he’s not turning out awesome rock riffs, Sam can be seen heading down the highway on his Suzuki sports motorbike. He might have a steady job and be getting married soon but all the signs are that Sam was definitely Born To Be Wild.
